Voyah

Voyah (Chinese name Lantu) is the premium electric brand of Dongfeng Motor, based in Wuhan, Hubei. It grew out of the Dongfeng Renault business after Renault left in 2020; the brand was introduced in Wuhan on 17 July 2020¹. Dongfeng decided in August 2025 to privatise and delist its own Hong Kong listing, and Voyah listed in Hong Kong by introduction on 19 March 2026 (code 07489) with no new shares sold². No source we opened gives Dongfeng's percentage stake. In January 2024 Voyah signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Huawei on smart mobility; the announcement did not set out its scope³.

Voyah sells electric, range-extended and plug-in hybrid cars. The Free comes as an electric car or a range-extender; the Dream MPV (also written Dreamer) comes as electric or plug-in hybrid, with an electric version of 475 kW and a battery of 82 to 108.7 kWh¹⁴.

The Courage uses Dongfeng's ESSA platform and offers batteries from 77 to 109 kWh. Wikipedia gives CLTC range from 570 to 901 km and 288 to 543 hp, depending on version⁵.

These range figures are on China's CLTC cycle; European WLTP figures are lower. Whether Huawei software would be fitted to export cars has not been stated; the quotation will say so item by item.

The Free, a mid-size SUV, was the first model; it launched in June 2021 from RMB 266,900 for the range-extender and RMB 393,600 for the electric car. The Dream MPV followed on 7 May 2022 from RMB 339,900, and the Zhuiguang sedan on 18 April 2023 from RMB 252,800³. Later additions are the Courage (2024), the Passion and Passion L sedans, the Taishan full-size SUV (2025) and, in 2026, the Passion S and Taishan X8¹. Prices are China prices.

Voyah sold 50,285 cars in 2023, 80,116 in 2024 and 150,169 in 2025, according to its prospectus; 2025 revenue was RMB 34.9 billion and net profit RMB 1.02 billion²⁶. Overseas markets made up 10.8% of 2025 revenue, RMB 3.53 billion⁶. January-June 2026 deliveries were 76,264, up 35.9%⁷.

Xinhua reported in April 2024 that cumulative exports since 2022 were nearly 10,000 cars across markets including Norway, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Bulgaria and the Czech Republic, with an Italian distributor saying the first 100 cars had sold out⁸. Wikipedia dates Norway to June 2022¹. By the first half of 2026 Voyah reported 40 countries and regions, over 240 overseas sales locations and showrooms in Saudi Arabia⁷. A Chinese battery-electric or range-extended car sold in the EU faces countervailing duty of 17.0% to 35.3% depending on the maker¹⁰.

Euro NCAP rated the Voyah Courage five stars in 2025: adult occupants 90%, children 88%, vulnerable road users 76%, safety assist 87%, for the left-hand-drive Flagship version⁵.

The business side is mixed. After a first profit in 2025, Voyah reported a net loss of RMB 389 million for the first half of 2026 against a profit of RMB 460 million a year earlier, and a gross margin of 17.7%, 3.7 points lower. It blamed higher component costs, softer demand and competition⁷. Monthly deliveries have settled at about 13,000 to 14,000⁹.

We found no independent report on service quality in its export markets. For Germany, an analysis names homologation, pricing against established premium brands and charging as open questions⁷. Service depends on the local importer.

Voyah suits buyers who want a large family SUV or MPV from a state-owned maker with a growing export footprint, and who value the Courage's five-star Euro NCAP result. It suits less well a buyer who needs a proven local service network in a market where Voyah is new, or who is wary of a brand that has just returned to a loss.
