Geely E2 / EX2 earns five Euro NCAP stars and is on sale in Europe: what it means for buyers abroad

Geely's small electric hatchback, sold in China as the Xingyuan, reached Europe and the UK in 2026 under the names E2 and EX2, and has now earned five stars from Euro NCAP.

Euro NCAP published the result on 2 September 2026, under its 2026 test protocols. The Geely E2 scored 79% for Safe Driving, 72% for Crash Avoidance, 86% for Crash Protection and 95% for Post Crash Safety. The AION UT and Leapmotor B05 also earned five stars in the same round. Euro NCAP noted that Chinese-made cars made up 7% of EU new-car sales and nearly 10% in the UK last year. CarNewsChina's report on the test says testers praised the physical controls and the standard child presence detection, while the automatic emergency braking was described as inconsistent.

On sale in Europe: electrive reported on 16 July that the UK EX2 comes in Pro, Max and Ultra versions, and CarNewsChina reported on 5 August that Belgium offered an introductory discount with no stated end date. Both markets get a 35 kWh battery on the Pro, with a WLTP range of 252 km in Belgium and up to 155 miles (249 km) in the UK, and a 47 kWh battery on the Max and Ultra, with 345 km in Belgium and up to 214 miles (344 km) in the UK. The car is 4,135 mm long, with a 375-litre boot. Deliveries in Belgium were scheduled for September.

What this means for buyers outside China

1. 1.If you live in the EU or the UK, the car is now sold through Geely's own channels. Buying officially gives you local warranty and registration, and we do not suggest a parallel import where an official one exists.
2. 2.Elsewhere, a five-star Euro NCAP result is a useful safety reference, but it applies to the European-specification car. Ask which specification your export car matches, including airbags, driver-assistance settings and lighting.
3. 3.Compare range using the same cycle. Chinese brochures use CLTC, which gives higher numbers than the WLTP figures above.
4. 4.In countries where the car is not officially sold, check the import rules for new electric cars, and for left or right-hand drive, before you commit.
