Yes. The Aion UT can be bought new in China and shipped to Nigeria, Ghana or Iraq. Left-hand drive as standard; a right-hand-drive version is also made for right-hand-drive markets. You pay only after signing a contract with the licensed exporter.

From 2026 battery-electric cars are exempt from import duty and VAT (electrive, 11 Aug 2026); sources conflict on plug-in hybrids and range extenders, which are still shown at the normal rates — to be confirmed.

Exports go through a Chinese export company (export agency, named in the contract), which handles the export licence, customs, inspection and shipping. Since 2026 pure-electric passenger cars need a Chinese export licence.

The story behind the name
AION is GAC Group's all-electric brand. It grew out of GAC New Energy in 2017 and became the separate company GAC Aion in 2020; the name echoes 'aeon', a new era.
