The story behind the name
Haval grew out of Great Wall's 2005 Hover SUV (哈弗 in Chinese); it became Great Wall's stand-alone SUV brand in 2013, with the English name changed to Haval. The Big Dog name was chosen in an online poll run by Haval, and its trims were named after dog breeds.
