The story
The Geely Galaxy E5, sold abroad as the EX5, is Geely's compact battery-electric SUV. According to Geely, more than 100,000 were delivered in China within seven months of launch, global sales have passed 210,000, and the model is sold in 26 countries. In February 2025 the EX5 received a five-star Euro NCAP rating, the first battery-electric Geely launched in Europe to earn five stars.
The story behind the name
Geely 吉利 means 'auspicious' or 'lucky'. Founded by Li Shufu, it also owns Volvo Cars, Lotus and Zeekr; Galaxy 银河 is its new-energy line, renamed EX5 for export markets.
