The story
Avatr is a new-energy brand backed by Changan, with partners including Huawei and CATL. The Avatr 12 debuted at IAA Munich in September 2023 and went on sale in China that November. According to Avatr, the car received more than 6,700 firm orders within 36 hours of launch. It uses CATL batteries, while Huawei supplies the electric motors. Avatr also announced plans to sell the model in Europe.

The story behind the name
Avatr is a joint creation of Changan, Huawei and CATL. It was first called 安为德, one character from each partner, then renamed 阿维塔 – pronounced like 'Avatar' – to be easier to say and translate.
