Exports go through a Chinese export company (export agency, named in the contract), which handles the export licence, customs, inspection and shipping. Since 2026 pure-electric passenger cars need a Chinese export licence.

The story behind the name
Li Auto's L-series uses a petrol engine only as a generator. The first L8 (2022) was a six-seater; the second generation launched on 23 June 2026 switched to a five-seat flagship layout, with four 'zero-gravity' seats that Li Auto says no other five-seat SUV offers.
