Size

On paper the two cars take up almost the same space on the road:

• Length: 5,480 mm for the S800, 5,485 mm for the Maybach S 480.
• Wheelbase: 3,370 mm for the S800, 3,396 mm for the Maybach, a difference of 26 mm.
• Width: the S800 is 14 mm wider (2,000 mm against 1,986 mm).
• Height: the S800 is 32 mm taller (1,542 mm against 1,510 mm).

The S800 version compared here has four seats, with two individual rear seats. We did not find a confirmed seat count for the S 480 4MATIC on the Mercedes-Benz pages we checked, so it is left blank in the table.

Powertrain, range and charging

The S800 compared here is a range extender (EREV) with a 65 kWh battery. Maextro rates its electric range at 340 km on the CLTC cycle and gives DC fast charging from 10% to 80% in 10.5 minutes. We did not find a combined system power figure we could confirm for either car.

The Maybach S 480 4MATIC is a petrol mild hybrid. It has no plug-in battery, so electric range and DC charging do not apply.

About range figures

CLTC is China's test cycle; WLTP is the cycle used in Europe and many other markets. They are different tests, so a CLTC range and a WLTP range cannot be compared directly. If you compare the S800 with any car rated on WLTP, do not set that figure against the S800's 340 km CLTC as if they were measured the same way.

The rear cabin of the S800

From Maextro's configuration page for the EREV Executive:

• Rear seats: two zero-gravity seats with 20-way adjustment, heating, ventilation and massage, including leg rests.
• Screens: 12.3" driver display, 15.6" centre screen, 16" passenger screen, AR head-up display and a rear privacy-screen projector.
• Suspension: dual-chamber air suspension with continuous damping control (CDC).
• Lidar: four units: an 896-line main unit and three solid-state units.
• Audio: 43 speakers, 2,920 W.
• Driver assistance: ADS 5; city navigation is a paid add-on.

The S800's audio system (Huawei Sound Ultimate) and driver assistance (Huawei Qiankun ADS 5) are Huawei-branded, according to Maextro's configuration page. CRAVEUO is an independent exporter, not affiliated with or authorized by Huawei.
