Buying a Xiaomi YU7 or SU7 in the UAE (Dubai)
CRAVEUO EV Export · Sources last checked 2026-10-30 · General information, not legal advice
Quick answer
Xiaomi cars are on sale officially in the UAE through Gargash Prime Automotive: the YU7 starts from AED 184,900 and the SU7 from AED 169,900, with bookings open (tbreak, 2026-10-19). So there are two ways. You can order a new car from Gargash, at its price, delivery date and warranty. Or you can import a nearly-new car from China: a car registered there for more than 180 days, exported as a used car, with no Xiaomi factory warranty in the UAE. Xiaomi does not supply new cars to exporters in China, so a brand-new car from China is not an option.

The nearly-new route can make sense if you want a version or colour that isn't available locally, or a car sooner than the official delivery date. If a local warranty matters most to you, the official dealer is the safer choice. Compare both in writing before you pay.
The SU7: tbreak reported SU7 prices from Gargash as well (2026-10-19). We read only the YU7 page, so check the SU7 on Gargash's site.
The nearly-new route
- It is a used car. It has a Chinese registration history and mileage. Ask for the registration date, the odometer reading and an inspection report with a battery-health check.
- Why 180 days. From 1 January 2026, China asks for the carmaker's after-sales letter before it issues an export licence for a car registered 180 days or less (MOFCOM; Xinhua, 2025-11-17). In practice the cars offered for export have been registered for about 6 months or more.
- No maker warranty. Plan for service and parts yourself.
Age rule for used imports
Sources disagree. CarSwitch says a used car imported into the UAE must be no more than 10 years old (CarSwitch, 2026-06-30), but it cites no government text. Other guides say there is no age limit for personal imports. The RTA's registration page says "There's no age limit to register a vehicle in Dubai", but that line may be about the applicant, not the car. A nearly-new Xiaomi is about a year old, so it is well inside any of these limits. The RTA's rules decide: check before you buy.
What it costs
The total is the car's price in China, export-side costs, sea freight, 5% customs duty on the CIF value and 5% VAT, then inspection and registration. Our guide How much does it cost to import a Chinese electric car to the UAE explains each part. Your written quote is the price.
Charging in the UAE
DEWA's public chargers use Type 2 sockets for AC and CCS (and CHAdeMO) for DC (DEWA). A China-market YU7 or SU7 has China's GB/T inlet, which does not take these plugs directly.
- AC (home and public slow charging): you need a Type 2 to GB/T adapter, or a home charger with a GB/T cable.
- DC fast charging: a CCS2 to GB/T adapter is an active converter. Compatibility depends on the charger, the adapter and the car's software. We don't recommend relying on one.
- Ask the exporter to write the car's inlet type on the order.
Heat and Gulf specification
China-market cars are not built to Gulf (GCC) specification. We found no official source on what changes for an electric car in Gulf heat, so ask the exporter to confirm in writing whether the cooling and air-conditioning need any work. At registration, the RTA asks for "a document proving Gulf Specifications compliance" if the customs card doesn't show it (RTA). A law-firm summary says electric vehicles imported into the UAE must meet GSO 2698 and get MoIAT conformity (Al Tamimi). We could not confirm what a private buyer importing one car needs: ask the RTA or a licensed customs broker before you pay.
