The steering rule
Section 7(2) is not an absolute ban. It lets the minister direct otherwise, but we did not find any such direction or how often one is given. We also did not find whether the section was amended after the 1998 edition we read.
One local guide says left-hand-drive cars from the US and Canada are legal and common (592hub, not official). That does not match the wording of the law, so get an answer from the licensing office before you buy.
The 2026 budget notice does not mention electric cars, so we take the GRA table as current. The page itself has no update date.
